Woah! Step back - the future's so bright for you it's blinding me! You are the coolest of the cool. Everyone looks up to you as the benchmark for being coooool. The fonze was your grandfather. Any cooler and you'd freeze! WOO it's chilly in here.
We had a day yesterday!!! The temp was 23C and the sun was shining and there was a warm breeze, it was just ......ahhhhh heaven! I took major advantage and spent most of the day outside. I walked around my estate looking and planning and making some sketches of what I want to change. I GOT ME SOME SPRING FEVER!
My sister-in-law Julie, and I went to a Garden Seminar last night. The speaker was Dennis Flannagan. He has a couple of shows on TV. Anyway, it was all on Natural Landscapes. I enjoyed it and came away with some really good ideas. Look out Frenchie, I got some jobs lined up for you .... get out your shovel!
The temps are good today although slightly overcast and we had some sprinkles earlier. It looks like the sun is trying to shine .... hmmmmm we'll see.
Well I can ... I can feel it. Summer is just around the corner. The kids are out riding their bikes and the robins are going crazy. I know we had snow yesterday but that was yesterday. It was a last hurrah for old man winter.
I must explain the song and the picture. The song brings me back to when I was a kid and we would get our bikes out for the first ride of the season and we would ride around in circles on the street singing this song. Well sort of.... we would be singing "we all live in a nudist colony" to the tune of this song. Still ... haha! It takes me back.
It might be because I cleaned and plugged in the beer fridge in the garage today. But I feel like we have crossed a weather barrier and we are going to start having a real Spring with Summer just around the corner ...... OR...... once again .... I'm just pissin' in the wind!
Either way, have a great evening everyone and an even better tomorrow!
Today I finally got down to picking out a headstone for our Mom. It wasn't at all the tramatic experience that I thought it would be. I tell you the fellow that came to house wasn't at all the "headstone" kind of man I pictured. It was sort of a comedy of errors. I mean the man had books flying and papers all over the place. He had sweat running down his face and it was really cold out!! He was only in my house for something like 20 minutes and it was like a whirlwind! He told me that he went out to the cemetery first to see where Mom was and take some measurements. That made me laugh as I thought that was likely the reason that he was so flustered .... Mom must have made the trip back into town with him. I bet she also had something to do with him dropping papers and his briefcase popping open unexpectedly. As he drove away in his "Uncle Buck" gold caddie I looked to the sky and said to Mom "You're a pip Evie, a real pip!" And in true form it started to lightly snow!!
NOT FUNNY MOM!!=http://img42.photobucket.com/...
Have a great evening everyone and an even better tomorrow!
The weekend is over and it's back into the rut. Monday is always a big house cleaning day for me. Once I get the little piggies off to school and my man to work, I take an hour for myself and then I'm at it! All I can say is that my house must have been a pig-sty when I was working 50-60 hours a week. How did I ever manage to run a house and raise up two kids working those hours. I do remember doing laundry at midnight .... and a lot of weekend cooking .... not to mention all day Saturday was spent with rubber gloves on cleaning from dawn to dusk ..... I guess I'm glad that I'm in the "rut" I'm in now! :) I'm always busy but never rushed. I have time for my family and most of all the weekends are never spent doing housework! I worked my ass off (hey how come it can't be "I worked my love handles off"?) for 20 years to make life good for my family but what they really needed was me here, not at work. Well I'm here now you lucky, lucky people!!!
Oh well, it's lunch time .... I guess I can take another break ..... :P
Have a great day everyone and an even better tomorrow! Try to look outside of your "rut" every once in a while ... the view is terrif!
Another cold rainy day here in lovely Muskoka. The only good thing is the grass is starting to green up and we actually have some buds on the trees. I sure hate it though. I can't seem to snap out of a funk. Hmmmm maybe tomorrow will be warmer and brighter. Here's hoping!
I had a "spa" morning today. I washed out the couple gray hairs that were creeping in ... (SHUT UP SIS!) and I added some nice blonde highlights. I took a couple inches off all around too. I look really cute and ready for summer... (DO I HAVE TO SAY IT AGAIN MAGOO!!!) hahaha :P Anyway, good for me! It made an unbearable crappy day into an almost palapable one.
What was it Miss Scarlet said ... "tomorrow's another day"! And so it shall be ...
Have a great evening everyone and an even better tomorrow.
=http://img42.photobucket.com/... Well my hubby is excited! He picked up his new truck yesterday afternoon. It's not brand new but new to him and he loves it. Hopefully tomorrow the guy that wants to buy his old red truck will come and get it. I told Frog that I won't have my yard looking like a used car lot. He knows I mean business and he is so thrilled with his new truck that he will do whatever is requested of him. Hmmmm maybe I can get him to do some of those jobs that he has been putting off the last couple weeks. Hahaha! I know ..... I'm a meanie! 8) I love it!
This has been a long week and I'm glad that the end is here. With any luck at all we will have a glorious weekend with lots of sun and warmer temps. I need to work on my tan!
Well I did it!!! I finally beat Aaron (aka The Redneck) at something!! It was SWEEEEEEET!! I took him down on the Bocce Ball court. 11-3 final score! WOO-HOO!! He tried to blame it on the balls. He said that they were lighter than what he was used to ... he was tired ... blah blah blah .... I BEAT HIM!!! Ok enough gloating .. I'll save it for desert!
It's nice to have Mark and Aaron here. Today is Marks birthday (I mentioned the pineapple upsidedown cake last night .. that's for Markus) They arrived around 9:30 - 10:00 this morning and they sure looked whooped. They want to stay up to watch hockey tonight but I bet they'll be snoring before long.
Ok, for those of you that know me, you know I am a fan of Martha Stewart. When I am expecting company, my family makes fun of me and tells everyone that "Martha is on full alert". I like my house clean for company (and for my family) and I like to cook up a storm so that everyone is happy and enjoys themselves. I also like to be prepared so that I can enjoy my company and I'm not stuck in the kitchen. If that makes me a "Martha" well so be it! I'll take the compliment.
I am now waiting for the "Rednecks" to come from Florida. We are looking forward to their visit. It's after 10:00pm and I'm just finished getting everything in the crockpot for a big hearty chili and I have made a loaf of cheese bread to go with it. I have about 5 min.'s left until I have to take the pineapple upsidedown cake out of the oven so I have to make this quick. I'm enjoying myself so BACK OFF!
Ok buzzer just went on the oven! Have a great evening everyone and a great tomorrow!
P.S. I just turned out the cake and it's perfect!!!! Please note: When you make it in a frying pan in the oven the handle of the pan is reeeeeeeeally hot .... SHIT!
Well, we had some thunder boomers this morning and it is raining again. Every once in a while the rain stops and the sun comes out then it's gone again. The weather lady says that it is supposed to shine this afternoon with a high of 17C ........so ......... like it's afternoon and ...I'M WAITING!!!!!
Perhaps I can catch up on my laundry and housework. Naw ..... who am I kidding .... I think that I may just plunk my ass down and watch a movie until the sun comes out. I could bake something .... but then I'd only eat it and we all know where that would lead .....
Here's hoping that the sun is on your back wherever you are today.
It's a quickie today folks. The hubby and I have been out browsing for the last 12 hours!!! We went south to Orillia and Barrie and we were going to go further South but I opted to go back to Orillia to go to Casino Rama and do a little gambling! Yes I was up a couple hundred but like a fool I didn't cash out until I manage to loose half of it. Oh well, still up a couple of bucks and that's better than a kick in the ass! Frenchie on the other hand lost the $40 that he was playing with. Talk about a small world ...I was surprised to find my Dad's car parked just a couple cars down from mine. He was standing right at the door of the casino when we walked in too!! I haven't been there in almost a year and I get caught right off the bat! Who'da thought!!
It's late here now ... well late for me, and I need jammies and a cup of tea ....maybe some frozen yogurt ... I wasn't lucky enough to pick up a few pints of peanut butter chunk icecream ...SIS!!!!
=http://img42.photobucket.com/... Does this look familiar?? Well it does to me! I tell you what .... hahaha!(inside joke) I am about done with chocolate and all other sweets! I feel like I am gonna blow a zipper! I am totally going on a strict fruit and veggie diet for the next few weeks until I can get back to a routine and back to normal. I have been very flip about watching what I have been chowing down on since I came back from Florida. WELL NO MORE!!! How will I ever get into that thong bathing suit if I keep this up!
Ok, enough of my bitch'n! TGIF ya'll. Have a great weekend, I hope you are spending it with your loved ones.
=http://img42.photobucket.com/... Today is a great day! The birds are singing the sun is shine'n and it is getting warmer by the minute! I managed to get a little digging in the garden yesterday and I have found that my side and front gardens are thawed enough to at least scratch up the surface. I'm so excited! I can see my tulips are breaking ground as are my lupins and some of my lillies. I just love it when I can get outside! My absolute favourite time of year ... bar none!
I am going today to pick out my Mom's headstone. I know what I want so it shouldn't take long. I promised Mom that if the house sold I would get her a really nice one and I wouldn't let cash stand in the way of what I want for her. (Not to worry, ain't noooo body can talk me into something I don't want either so there you go) If I can't get what I want at this place .... I'm moving on to another. I am surprised that I don't find this a sad task. This is the last thing I have to do with the business end of things and I am looking forward to closing the file. Memories are the key .... paperwork's a bitch!
Ok, gotta run .... have a great day everyone! I hope the sun shining for you too!
I feel as though I'm about to burst! I have been eating chocolate for the last couple of days and can't seem to stop. I know that part of it was the PMS thing .... that really couldn't be helped ........ but now I need help. I just can't resist that creamy goodness running down the back of my throat ...... MMMMMMMM GOOD! I know ... I agree ..... it sounds almost pornographic! Trust me I feel like I'm doing something naughty when I'm eating it!! If I send it to school with the kids and send some to work with my hubby maybe, just maybe, I can get myself clean before the weekend. I'm not holding my breath!
I hope you all have a great evening .... have a cup of hot chocolate for me!
Well my yard is raked and looking good! I even managed to get into the perennial garden in the back and loosen the dirt. Unfortunately the garden along the front of the house can't be done yet as the ground is still frozen solid! That's a good thing though cause I put my back out and I'm hurting pretty good right now. :(
I think I will just have to take a wee soak in the tub and if that doesn't work, I'm sure my sister-in-law that works at our Doctor's office will have a sample pack of something that will do the trick! :P WOO-HOO!!
I hope you all have a great evening and an even better tomorrow! Enjoy!
I think the Easter Bunny gets through our bathroom window!
Happy Easter everyone! I've sure had a busy couple of days. We had a successful garage sale on Saturday. We didn't make much money but the point was to deal with the rest of Mom's things that the family didn't need and we sold a bunch of our own stuff to boot! Everything that didn't sell went off to charity except Mom's dining table and chairs. Those are on their way to a consignment shop downtown. After all was said and done we had alot of fun and alot of laughs. I think we all slept really good last night too!
We had my brother Pat and his wife Julie and their two girls for dinner tonight. I cooked up a huge ham with sides of scalloped potatoes, asparagus, mixed veggies, tossed salad and homemade rolls. Of course desert is a must for Easter dinner, so there was pumpkin pie with whipped cream and then an apple pie with cobbler topping and ice-cream! YUM!!! Yes I used the term "was" correctly as the only thing left is a bit of whipped cream and of course ham. We were all stuffed! I think another good nights sleep is on it's way.
Tomorrow the sun is supposed to shine for us again. Here's hoping as our rakes are primed and ready!!
Well tomorrow is garage sale day. We sure worked hard getting everything out and priced. We put up signs all over the place so I just hope that they make it through the night. We plan on starting at 0800hrs tomorrow and so we'll have to be up and at it really early. There were so many people that stopped by today wondering what was going on. Some lady even walked right into the house yelling "how much for the bikes?" I tell ya, the nerve! Oh well hopefully she will come back tomorrow.
Pat and Julie and the girls came over so the guys could watch golf and us girls went and rented "Somethings gotta give". Great flick. We ate Chinese food and then they left around 2100hrs. Julie made a lasagna for tomorrow night after the garage sale so this means that we will be there the entire day! Then on Sunday they all come back here for Easter dinner! Talk about family overload!!! We should be sick of each other by Monday!
Have a great evening everyone and a better tomorrow!
Well I did work my butt off today, or so to speak. I got a call just after lunch from my brother John to let me know that he and his wife Darlene were coming up and would be staying overnight here. He wants to pick up some stuff of my Mom's that I had set aside for him and the organ that he wants for his daughter Diana. Anyway, I started cleaning and never quit until 6:00pm. Usually Friday is my big cleaning day but this just pushed it ahead. That's a good thing though as with tomorrow being Good Friday everyone will be home and I wouldn't get a thing done! I also dragged Frenchie grocery shopping as the stores are closed tomorrow. We spent $382 on groceries!! Oh my god! We still had to go to the beer store! YIKES
I have made up a ton of signs for the Garage Sale on Saturday and we will put those up tomorrow. We will also spend tomorrow afternoon setting everything up and pricing so we will be ready for customers at 0800hrs! John and Darlene plan on leaving in the morning after they load up so I won't have to worry about cooking a big dinner or anything.
That's been pretty much my day! Errands in the morning and then stuck in the house all afternoon cleaning. It just figures as the sun came out this afternoon and the temp went up to 10C. The weatherlady says that we are in for 3 nice days.... fingers crossed everybody please!
I feel like crap today! I'm tired and have a sore throat and in general just feel like crap! It didn't help things that we woke up to SNOW this morning ......AUGH!!!!!!!!! I can't take much more of this. Did I mention that I have a headache too? Damn .... where is my Spring? I need to get outside .... I need sunshine ....(I know ... what I really need is to stop whining :( ) I think that I am just going to stay at home today with no running around for the first time since we came home from Florida. I'm loosing my tan ..... I have "tanorexia"! Ok, I think that I need a hot tea and a blankie and my lounger chair ...... OK OK OK ....... I need to stop bitch'n too alright!!
Have a great day where ever you are! (hope the sun is shinning for you)
Unfortunately I can't yet start digging in my own garden so what better place to be than in this one. I thought the music was fitting too! It is still cold here but it is sunny. I actually got a rake out and got leaves and other stuff off of the flower beds. The ground is still pretty hard but if the sun keeps shinning I may get a shovel in them by the weekend. It's amazing how the tulips can push their way through that almost frozen earth but they do and they have started peaking through in my gardens. Every Spring is an adventure for me. Sounds silly but I plant new stuff every fall and can't wait to see what I get in the Spring. Our season is so short that I really max out when I can.
Well today went as well as could be expected. I have been itching to drive out past the house to see if the new owners have started moving anything in yet. I can't believe that I won't be able to drive out there and just walk in anytime I please. Oh well .... it is what it is, right Sis? I assume that everything went well with the closing this afternoon as I have not heard anything to the contrary and believe me, my lawyer would have called if someone forgot to dot an "i". I guess that's a good thing, but what a pest! I expect to hear from him in the morning with a run down of the days events ..... can't wait!
I couldn't sit still today. I didn't want to be in the house as the sun was shining but was it cold!!! I just felt like driving around. I would have gone to my safe place (W/Mart) but didn't want to wander too far from home. I did manage to con my hubby into taking me out for dinner. Nothing fancy but I didn't have to clean up after so that was really a good thing!
Have a great evening everyone, tomorrow is another day!
My horoscope says that I am determined. I will finish all that I start.
Good for me. And I did just that. I made the final sweep through my Mom's house and made sure that everything was out. I made a couple of trips into town and then finished with a complete cleaning. I must say that as I was on my hands and knees washing the kitchen floor I did shed a few tears. I washed my way to the front door and then reached in to lock it and I was gone. It took me a few minutes to compose myself for the trip back into town. We moved into that house 32 years ago in May. My Mom loved that damn house and I guess that this was the final good-bye. Just a couple more signatures tomorrow and it's all over. I will not go back to the house tomorrow ..... that ship has sailed.
Your mother is always with you... She's the whisper of the leaves as you walk down the street. She's the smell of bleach in your freshly laundered socks. She's the cool hand on your brow when you're not well. Your mother lives inside your laughter. She's crystallized in every tear drop... She's the place you came from, your first home.. She's the map you follow with every step that you take. Not time, Not space... Not even death.... will ever separate you from your mother.... You carry her inside of you....
It's been a year today since we lost our Mom. I am dedicating my blog today to her.
What a week! Glad to see the tail end of this baby. Fingers crossed Monday will come off without a hitch and there will be smooth waters ahead.
I had a funny thing happen today. It's one of those things that you see on TV and I don't know why I want to share this but everytime I think of it I laugh out loud.
I went to Tim Horton's drive through as usual for my morning coffee and when I got to the microphone and she asked me what I wanted as soon as I opened my mouth to speak ...... I burped! How gross/funny was that? I then started coughing to make it sound like it wasn't a burp. Oh well, shit happens! But why does it happen to me....
Have a great Friday night everyone and if your going out for dinner, don't forget the antacid!
This week has gone by so fast! I can't believe that tomorrow is Friday already. I got caught up on my housework today and all laundry etc. I must say that is sure is nice when everything around you is clean and organized. I even served up a roast chicken for my guys ...... I really am "SUPERMOM"! (I think that they were waiting for some April fools joke or something)
I still have lots to do before we close on the house on Monday. Mostly everything is out but I have to go through and clean yet. Then it's more lawyers etc. I'm tired of dealing with them too! At least mine isn't a "stuffed shirt" as they say. He is fairly layed back and approachable. Still ..... a lot of money for a signature and a stamp!
Have a great evening everyone!
Thanks to my niece, Jena for making me this doll! She's perfect! (remarkably just like me!)
